Our Projects and Programs
The Newark Educational Foundation (NEF) is dedicated to enhancing STEAM education within the Newark Unified School District (NUSD) by supporting a variety of innovative programs. Through funding and resources, the foundation empowers educators in engaging science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics initiatives that inspire students. By fostering a collaborative environment, we help cultivate critical thinking and creativity, ensuring that students are well-prepared for future challenges. Together, we are building a brighter future for our youth.

Science Camp Program
All 5th grade students in the district (formally 6th grade), have the opportunity to attend overnight Science Camp for 3-4 nights. The NEF has generously donated up to $15,000 each year to help cover costly expenses (with a generous grant from Cargill) related to the Science Camp to ensure that every child has an opportunity to participate.

Musical Instruments Repair + Replace Program
Our music initiative focuses on repairing, cleaning, and reconditioning existing NUSD instruments currently in storage to ensure they are ready for use. We also sponsor a community-based donation program to gather instruments and related equipment for Middle and High School, and eventually for Elementary School programs as they are launched by the district.

Rocketry, Robotics, Drama - and Other Programs
Supporting our Rocketry, Robotics, Drama and programs, along with other STEAM initiatives within district, is essential for fostering creativity innovation among students. By investing in these areas, we empower our students to explore their passions, develop new skills, prepare for future opportunities in a rapidly changing world.
